Glorious

For humans it is not easy to stay away from faces, it is hard-wired into our brains and we see faces and features in everything around us.

As an artist I find portraiture intriguing. Every face has an interesting story to tell, a story where we find connections to our own history; connections to our own journey, emotions, experiences and memories.

Faces and figures are difficult to draw for this precise reason - we know a lot about them, maybe too much. We draw what we know and not what we see. I like to explore the connections of the human beings to their surroundings. They all have stories to tell.
